Response to Muslims

Jesus in the Qur'an

Jesus in the Qur'an is called the Spirit of God.  The Bible teaches that God's spirit is God himself (John 4:24 - “God is Spirit”). Surely a Muslim would agree with this.  However, if you are the Spirit of God then you are God, since that is His essential nature, Spirit. At least according to the Bible.

Muslims believe that the Word of God became a book - the Qur'an.  Christians believe that the Word of God became a man - Jesus Christ (see John 1:1,14).

If one can believe that the Word of God became a book, why is it impossible to believe that the Word of God became a man?

Let's analyze some of the suras to see what is recorded:

Sura 19:20,34, Jesus praised his birth and then said, “I am the servant of Allah.” And Allah teaches, “It is not for God to take a son unto Him.” Here we have Jesus speaking denying everything he said in the Bible.

In Sura 10:68-70 They say: “God hath begotten a son!” - Glory be to Him! He is self- sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! say ye about God what ye know not? Say: “Those who invent a lie against God will never prosper.” A little enjoyment in this world!- and then, to Us will be their return, then shall We make them taste the severest penalty for their blasphemies.”

What we have is a revelation of Mohammad that came after 550 years of the last revelation by Jesus and his appointed apostles.

To the Hebrews chapter 1:vs.1-2 “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds”

The last revelation encompasses over 1,500 years of writings from various prophets and the personal revelation in the New Testament of those who knew Jesus and heard what he said. This is ignored and discarded for one mans non-eyewitness testimony who was telling everyone in the Middle East, that Jews and Christians are wrong and their Bible is wrong.

Sura 5, section 16, verse 119, reads: “And behold! God will say: “O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, “Worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of God”? He will say: “Glory to thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, though I have not known what is in thine. For thou knowest in full all that is hidden.”

The only time the trinity is mentioned in the Qur'an is to bring disbelief or mock the nature of the one God.

Sura 5:72-73, 5:75 “They do blaspheme who say: “God is Christ the son of Mary.” They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a trinity: for there is no God except one God Allah. If they do not desist from their word of blasphemy, verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them. Christ the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him.”

Sura 4:169 “Believe in God and his apostles and say not three..”

Now it needs to be pointed out that the word Trinity is never mentioned in the Bible yet it is explained by examination on the nature of God in the Scriptures. The Christians that lived in Mohammad's area did not believe in the trinity nor that God has a son, they were considered non Christian by those who held the historic Christian teachings. These were the Nestoriams and the others were the Monophysites who Mohammad would encounter on his trading journeys to Syria and elsewhere.

It is not unlikely that Mohammad had come to this same conclusion from his own environment. Sura 3:59: “The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: “Be.” And he was.”

So it is interpreted the Jesus is a human being that is a no different than any other except that he had a virgin birth. He is a prophet as there are other prophets, and that is all that He is. If Jesus was created just as Adam was created, why is Jesus called the Spirit of God and Adam is not?

Any Muslim who believes Christ is God has committed the unforgivable sin, that will send him to hell. Sura 43:59 states “Jesus was no more than a mortal whom Allah favored and made an example to the Israelites. They are unbelievers who say God is Messiah, Mary’s son.”

The Bible-speaking of the son that will be born “His name will be called wonderful, counselor, mighty God, Father of eternity, prince of peace.” (Isa.9:6).These are all names attributed to God alone and more than a few Scriptures that have never change state of the messiah, THE SON AND BRANCH…Jeremiah 23:5-6 “Behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

They claim to believe all the prophets of the Bible, but what is written are denials of all what the prophets said about the Messiah and Jesus.

Qur'an Sura 4:171: “O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say not “Trinity” :desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.”

Another translation says, “O people of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which he conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit [sic.] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers and say not 'Three' - Cease! (it is better for you! - Allah is only one God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a son...The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah.”

Mohammad was well aware what Christians believed. The question is did he understand it? He was so zealous to change the pagans of his day to have only one God, that he seemed to have ignored what the one God revealed about Himself in the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. This constricted dogmatism is felt today as Muslims are not allowed to intellectually challenge themselves to understand or pursue what Christians (the people of the book) actually believe.

What about The Son of God?

The Bible states well over 20 times that God is One! (The Torah, Psalms, Prophets and Gospel Deut.6:4; Ps.86:10; Is.44:6-8.) The Qur’an agrees with this, but this is where the agreement stops, as the Bible also speaks of God's Son in the Old Testament and in prophecy of God becoming a man. Certainly if God is all-powerful it is possible for him to do this. If one is to say he cannot then logically they must admit He is not all-powerful. So that is not what is to be questioned. The real question to be answered is did He do this? The New Testament apostles all agree He did and use the Old Testament to prove it.

When a Muslim is asked to consider Christianity, they can’t, because of the misrepresentation they have already accepted. They don’t really know what we believe. The Qur’an agrees with the Bible that there is only one God. Islam thinks we believe in three gods, the father, the mother and the son. They believe Jesus is literally the son of God, that he was conceived by sex. To be a Son of God means having sex with God and having a offspring. That is just as offensive to us as it is to them. The only church that claims to be Christians who hold to this are the Mormons; we do NOT believe they are Christians because of this and many other doctrines such as many gods. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that God had sexual relations with a woman to produce a literal son. Christianity has never taught a son was produced through any physical act of God. What Muslims need to do to arrive at the true meaning is to as ask what does that term mean in the Bible, and not bring their own interpretation to the Biblical term. If you pursue what the Bible means by this term and you will arrive at the context found throughout the Scriptures.

The Qur'an depicts that there is no son, as they interpret it to mean that He (the son) is an literal offspring; we agree with their rejection of this because this is not the Bibles meaning of Son, the Bible does not say God has a wife or son in this manner.

Sura 6:102 “The originator of heavens and earth! How can He have a child, when there is for Him no consort?”

Sura 72:3 “We believe that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord - hath taken neither wife nor son.”

Sura 112:1-4 “Proclaim, 'He is the One and only GOD. The Absolute GOD. Never did He beget. Nor was He begotten. None equals Him.”

Sura 25:2-3 “He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: no son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion: it is He who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions. Yet have they taken, besides him, gods that can create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; nor can they control death nor life nor resurrection.”

This is from Sura 19:88-92 They say: “(God) Most Gracious has begotten a son!” Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous! At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin, That they should invoke a son for (God) Most Gracious. For it is not consonant with the majesty of (God) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.”

“They say, `God has taken to Him a son' .... Say: `Those who forge against God falsehood shall not prosper.” (Arberry, Interpreted, p. 233) “Praise belongs to God [Allah], who has not taken to Him a son” (Arberry, Interpreted p. 315) “Warn those who say, `God has taken to Himself a son'; ... a monstrous word it is, issuing out of their mouths; they say nothing but a lie.” (Arberry, Interpreted p. 316)

Sura 18:4-5 “Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, “God hath begotten a son”: No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood!”

In the time of Muhammad the pagan Meccan's believed that God had daughters. Also, according to Ibn Ishaq, there were Christians who believed that the virgin Mary was God's mother and that Christ was the physical son of God. This is probably why, in the Qur'an, there are verses such as these.

Muslims believe that words like father and son necessarily mean that the father must have a wife in order to have a son. How could Jesus be the son of God when God has no wife? Can God have a wife? The Bible nowhere speaks of God having a wife; there is not the least suggestion of a sexual relationship between God and any of His creatures. It is Mormonism, a distortion of Christianity that believes this. This idea is just as repulsive to Catholics and Christians just as it is to Muslims for different reasons. Obviously there has been a misunderstanding. Some Muslims do not understand that a Christian does not believe in this type of sonship regarding Christ Jesus.

Quran Sura 5:17-18: “In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: “Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every - one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things.” (Both) the Jews and the Christians say: “We are sons of Allah, and his beloved.” Say: “Why then doth He punish you for your sins? Nay, ye are but men,- of the men he hath created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and He punisheth whom He pleaseth: and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between: and unto Him is the final goal (of all)” O People of the Book! Now hath come unto you, making (things) clear unto you, Our Messenger, after the break in (the series of) our apostles, lest ye should say: “There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner (from evil)”: But now hath come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner (from evil). And Allah hath power over all things.

Here Mohammad states that not only is blasphemy to Christ the Son, but that anyone who calls themselves a son. Because of a misunderstanding of son meaning strictly offspring this erroneous conclusion is promoted. Although this sometimes used as it would be in the normal sense for anyone who is born into a human family.

In Matt 1:1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham” Matt 21:9 “Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' Hosanna in the highest!” Rom 1:3-6 “concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ”

It is not the intent to mean offspring when he is called the only- begotten son.

John 1:18 “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” This in Greek means he alone is in a unique relationship with God, unlike any other person.

Qur’an Sura 37:152-53 “God has begotten children”? but they are liars! Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?

It means for those who are believers that they are adopted by God, accepted as part of being in his family, as enjoined to him by being on his side because of their faith in God. John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children (sons) of God, to those who believe in His name”

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” (Rom. 8:15) “to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” (Gal. 4:5) “having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, (Eph. 1:5) All these Scriptures explain how we were bought by Christ’s death out of being slaves to Satan to serve God. This is meaning of adoption.

The Father and the Son

“The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!” (Sura 9:30)

Jesus told us to pray 'Our Father who is in heaven' Can a Muslim pray this prayer with his heart? According to Islam not only is there no Son, but God is not Father. Did Jesus tell us the truth?

Jesus said to his disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus' response was, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. Jesus attributes this revelation to God, to God-- not to man.

The son of the father can take on a similar meaning found in their own Qur'an. Muhammad had an uncle whose name was Abdul Uza, but in the Qur'an he is called Abu Lahab - the father of a flame. This does not mean that he gave birth to a flame? (Qur'an Sura 111:1) Excuse me if any Arabic is not said right.

A wayfarer is called, Ibn as-sabeel - son of the road. This does not mean that the road has a wife and conceived a road even to a Muslim. (Qur'an Sura 2:177). Just as the Bible teaches God is the Father of lights, he did not beget light.

Om ul-Kitab - means the mother of the book (Qur'an Sura 3:7; 13:39; 43:3). This does not mean she gave birth to the book. We want Muslims to understand what “son of” actually means in the Bible. It does not mean an offspring or in having sex with God. Son of God is used in a spiritual sense implying a unique relationship with God that no one else has. We call him the Son of God because the Bible states he is the Son of God, Jesus said He is the Son. To say he is not the Son of God when God says he is to deny God’s revelation! If this has Christ's own approval would it not be prudent to determine what He meant by this?

The Bible does use both Son and Father in a spiritual manner in Hebrew. God is called Abi-Ad the Father of eternity. Among the ancient Hebrews the term Father of, was always used to indicate Him who possessed the thing that followed. God the Father is called the Father of Spirits (Heb.12:9) and the Father of lights (James.1:17). This again does not mean a literal begetting of light or Spirits. It shows God being the source of life as the Father of Spirits, the Father of lights means He is the source of the moon, the sun and stars.

The Old Testament has said in Malachi 2:10 “Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously with one another by profaning the covenant of the fathers?

Malachi 1:6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts to you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, 'In what way have we despised Your name?”

God's Word is God Himself; he is not a second God. Muslims believe, God is all-powerful, there is nothing he cannot do. So God can certainly become a human being like us if he wanted to, can He not? The Qur'an does imply that Allah can appear in other forms, Sura 53:2-18, 81:19-24, so cannot God can take the form of man even temporarily?

Jn.1:1 “and the Word was God” Mt.1:23 says His name will be called Immanuel (with us is God) the fulfillment of Isa.7:14. Luke 1:35 states, He will be called “The Son of God.” Mark begins his Gospel under Peters direction by saying, "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God." (Mark 1:1)

The Bible says,“do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?” (John 10:36)“for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.” (Matthew 27:43).

Consider that the Qur’an says, “In blasphemy indeed are those that say that God is Christ the son of Mary” (Sura 5:17) or Sura 10:68-70 They say: “God hath begotten a son!” “Those who invent a lie against God will never prosper.”

The Bible says, “but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:31).

Paul a Jew was converted by seeing the risen Christ on the road as he was going to kill Christians for following Jesus the Messiah. After his conversion “Immediately he preached the Christ (Messiah) in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.” (Acts 9:20).

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14) The eternal nature and purpose of Christ is challenged by Islam.

For even God who is the Father said, “The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.” (John 3:35)

“For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.” (John 5:20);

Jesus said “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love” (John 15:9-10)

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16) The essence of the Gospel is denied without a Son of God.

The Qur’an says, “In blasphemy indeed are those that say that God is Christ the son of Mary” (Sura 5:17)

Is it? We have the evidence from Scriptural manuscripts that are close to the originals, and those that predate the apostles. Along with this Jesus saying God does indeed call another His ONLY Son. Not an offspring but a term of relationship.

It was the same apostle John who taught Jesus was the son and was eternal that also said; we should keep ourselves from idols (1 John 5:21). This would be a calculated contradiction if Jesus being the Son was worshipped by the apostles and were a mere human, that would be an idol, as only God is to be worshipped.

1 Jn.4:15 “Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is THE SON OF GOD, God dwelleth in him and he in God.” Here is the difference of religion to relationship. John who knew Jesus personally explains that God who is able to do all things, where nothing is impossible with God took up residence by his spirit in those who believe in Jesus as the Bible teaches.

Paul the apostle says in Galatians 4:6 “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” V:7 “Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” We have a relationship change when one believes in Christ as God’s only son, we are not slaves any longer but friends and will inherit what God has for us. No slave enjoyed what his master owned. We know this by God’s word and by experience. Psalm 89:26 “He shall cry to Me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.”

This all takes place because of the Injil (the Gospel of the apostles and Christ) by Jesus’ death for sin he has shown the invisible God’s love. Col. 1:13-14 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

God prophesying through the prophet Zechariah Zech. 12:10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they have pierced; they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.”

You may not want to accept this, at least not now. But the point being made here is that this is the revelation of Jesus to the apostles and God can surely watch over his word. As He said not one jot or tittle are to be changed. God has always been the same and His word is proof, as it never changes and God does not lie. If Muslims and other religions would look at the history of the Bible and see the evidence of it not being corrupted, they may not speak so loosely about the prophets they are supposed to esteem.

Who is Jesus Christ? Answer: I AM THAT I AM

I am one of the thirty recipients of e-mails originated from Mohamad Islami. It is gratifying indeed to notice that most of the writings are quotations from Holy Bible; but it would seem to be a hard pill to swallow in the light of the Holy Scriptures when the author attempted to deny the deity of Jesus Christ. From the following few lines I shall try to enlighten the readers of this note to understand that Jesus Christ holds pre-eminent position over all creation and “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things and by him all things consist.” (Col.1:16/17). Could Jesus say a lie when he claimed that he is “I AM THAT I AM”?.

It is not my intention to write word for word apologetics against Islami’s contention, but here is an attempt on my part to show the public and especially my Muslim brethren that there is the other side of the coin too to read! Remember to read 1 Cor.2:14 . “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

V 15) But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

Begat & Begotten

Both St.Matthew and St.Luke have listed the genealogy of Jesus Christ in their gospel. In Matthew’s gospel it starts with Abraham and ends with Christ. On the other hand, Luke starts with Jesus Christ dragging the list chronologically backwards to Adam which was the son of God. In both gospels, with the exception of Jesus Christ, it is written that all other human personalities are expressed respectively as ‘person` one begat ‘person` two or ‘person’ six was the son of ‘person’ seven. But as we come to Jesus’ birth it was quite different from other genealogical personalities.

In Matthew 1:16 there is no mention such as ‘Joseph begat Jesus. Biblical genealogy is reckoned in the names of male members of the family. Mary was brought in to the list out of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. JESUS’ birth was unique. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. In Luke 1:34 we read: “Then said Mary unto the angels, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? V.35) And the angel answered and said unto her, ‘The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

The Gospel According to Saint Matthew

In the book of Matthew the genealogy starts with Abraham and ends with Jesus.

Matthew 1:1-2

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

Matthew 1:16

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ

Jesus’ birth was unique. The birth of Jesus is described:

Matthew 1:18-25

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

The Gospel According to Saint Luke

In the book of Luke the genealogy starts with Jesus and ends with Adam.

Luke 3:23-38

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph,

25 Which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Amos, which was the son of Naum, which was the son of Esli, which was the son of Nagge,

26 Which was the son of Maath, which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Semei, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Juda,

27Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri,

38 Which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Addi, which was the son of Cosam, which was the son of Elmodam, which was the son of Er,

29 Which was the son of Jose, which was the son of Eliezer, which was the son of Jorim, which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi,

30 Which was the son of Simeon, which was the son of Juda, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Jonan, which was the son of Eliakim,

31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David,

32 Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson,

33 Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda,

34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,

35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,

36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,

38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

When as his mother Mary was esposed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with the child of the Holy Ghost as we read in Luke 1:34-35.

Luke 1:34-35

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

The Word made Flesh

The scripture that displays God’s love for all people of the world is found in John 3:16.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son (unique Son), that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Reading further in the chapter shows God does not want anyone to go to hell but to believe in the Son of God.

John 3:17-18:
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Through one man sin entered the world and all of humanity became sinners by nature.

Romans 5:12: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

So the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Note: In Malayalam Bible translation the word begotten is not found

This unique and first born Jesus Christ emptied himself; left the glorious position of equality with the Jehovah God took the form of a man in order to redeem mankind from the bondage of sin. For this purpose a body “thou hast fitted (prepared) me”, a body that has no vestige of sin. The heavenly should adapt itself to earthly. There are also celestial bodies and bodies terrestrial. Christ who possessed a celestial body sought a terrestrial one. Christ the second person in the trinity has to borrow the womb of a virgin for an incarnation.

Christ, as written in Philippians 2:6-7, although being one in essence with God and in the form of God {possessing the fullness of the attributes which made God God} did not think this equality with God, was a thing to be eagerly grasped(seized) or retained. But stripped himself (of all privileges and rightful dignity) so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave) in that he becomes like men and was born a human being. This transformation took place on a particular day of historical event.

Philippians 2:6-7:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

The shepherds heard the announcement of angels:

Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Luke 2:11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

This particular day became the beginning of a new era in history. Various prophets prophesied on “this day”. The name Jesus is a human name but He is Christ the anointed, the second person in the Trinity. He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature. That means: pre-eminent position over all creation belong to him. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions or principalities or powers: all things were created by him and for him. While Christ existed eternal i.e. with no beginning or endings, Jesus has a beginning. It is his human name. In the human perspective he became the only begotten Son because he had a beginning on a Christmas day 2000 years ago.

But if we, the rest of us, are born again with Christ the hope of glory in us we are begotten by the word of truth.

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

More of “this day”

Luke 2:11. “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord”. “This Day” proves there was a definite day that God had a Son and the Son had a Father.

Psalm 2:7 “I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee”. This is a prophetical utterance fulfilled on the birth of Christ at Bethlehem some two thousand years ago.

Luke 1:35. The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God:

Hebrew 1:5-8

5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

From the foregoing verses we learn five important facts.

  1. The Son was born “this day” i.e. a particular day

  2. A Father and Son relationship took shape the moment Mary was impregnated with the holy thing.

  3. All the angels were commanded to worship the Son. They were worshipping Christ in heaven, but to worship the Son was a fresh mandate.

  4. The angels are the ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation. (V.14) So we who have accepted Christ are elevated to the Son’s position. We become children of God the moment we received Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

  1. God the father calling his Son “Thy throne, O God”

There never was a time He was begotten as God, so Son-ship must always refer to humanity in His case, not to deity. This refers to the incarnation when the second person of the divine Trinity took a human body to redeem humanity. Read Philippians. 2:6-8 Christ Jesus who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

Philippians 2:6-8

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Origin of the Unique Son of God

It is from everlasting to everlasting. He is the beginning and ending. He is the Alpha and Omega. He is born but not created.

Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

The unique birth of Jesus and the circumstances under which this event took place is described in Matthew 1:18 to 25.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19)Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22)Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying ,23)Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24) The Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:25)And knew her not till she had brought forth her first-born son: and he called his name JESUS”.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (And we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.

This happened on a certain day. “This day” have I begotten thee. Ref Hebrew 1:5-7. God cannot have a son before that day. This special day was prophesied by prophets and in Psalms hundreds of years prior to that “this day”. This proved that Son-ship in connection with God had to refer to humanity and not to deity.

As God, the person we now know of as Jesus Christ had no beginning, was not begotten, was not a Son, and did not come into being. He always existed as God.

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Mica 5:2. “But thou Bethlehem Ephratah, (This is King David’s birth place where the Son of God’s birth took place) though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose going forth have been from of old, from everlasting”.

Hebrews 1:8 “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom. But as man and as God’s Son he was not eternal because the Son has a beginning, a death and resurrection. Yes he is the first begotten into the world worthy to receive worship from angels (Hebrews 1:6) He did have a beginning on Mary’s pronouncement (Luke 1:38)

Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. He was born but not created.

Christ

Christ is the New Testament designation of Old Testament “Messiah”.

In John 20:31 we read:

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

He is the anointed one prophesied in the Old Testament.

Psalm 2:2 “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against his anointed

Acts 4:26 “The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ”.

Rev.11:15 “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever”.

Rev.12:10 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation , and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night”.

I Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

II Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Gal 4:4 “But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law”.

Jacob on the death bed prophesied that the scepter shall not depart from Judah nor a lawgiver from between his feet in Genesis 49:10.

Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Deity or Divinity of Christ Jesus

The church’s confession of Christ’s divinity is no human fabrication for it is based upon God’s own self revelation.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and Word was God.

John 1:14 speaks that the Word was made flesh-assumed human flesh.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth

Roman 9:5 -- God over all things.

Romans 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

Matthew 16:17 “Blessed art thou Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” V16) Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Mark 8:29; Luke 9:20 Christ of God)

Isaiah 9:6 & Mica 5:2 speak of a ruler going forth have been from of old, from everlasting to everlasting.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Micah 5:2 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting

Philippians 2:6. Christ Jesus who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. In other words, Jesus did not want to seize and hold on to the equality with God. Paul states that Christ, being ‘in the form of God’ did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped.

Philippians 2:6-8

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross

I John 5:20 John praises him as the true God possessing eternal life. “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life”.

Caiaphas the Chief Priest.

During the trial of Jesus the high priest asked whether Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus answered: “You have said so” (see Matthew 26:64; Mark 15:2). John 10:30 Jesus said: “I and my Father are one”.

Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mark 15:2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

I AM THAT I AM

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am

In the high priestly prayer (John 17:5) Christ also refers to the glory, which he shared with the Father ‘before the world was made’. And now, O, Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. It is in the awareness of his divinity that he forgives sins and heals the sick and encourages his disciples to believe in him. (John 14:1) “Believe in God and believe in me also”.

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me

Physical Healing & Forgiveness of Sins

Mark 2:5-11 “When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, ‘son, thy sins be forgiven thee’. v10) But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins ( he saith to the sick of the palsy, I say unto thee, arise and take up thy bed and go thy way into thine house”.

5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

Matthew 9:2-7. v2) “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

V6) But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy) Arise, take up thy bed and go unto thine house”.

Luke 5:20-25. v.24) “But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon earth to forgive sins”.

Christ the anointed is explicitly shown in the following Bible quotations:

Isaiah 48:15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

Proverbs 30:4 equates the Son with God the creator.

Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Proverbs 8:22-31

22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Titus 2:13 equates Jesus with God.

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Romans 9:5 describes him as God.

Whose are the fathers and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever Amen.

To them (Israel) belong the patriarchs, and as far as His natural descent was concerned, from them is the Christ who is exalted and supreme over all, God blessed for ever! Amen. (Amplified Version)

From Rev.5: 13/14 we learn the deity of Jesus Christ.

13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

Isaiah 41:4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

Isaiah 44:6. “Thus saith the Lord the king of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first and I am the last; and beside me there is no God”.

Now let us see what Jesus himself spoke to John the Revelator.

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Verse 11 Jesus states, “I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last”.

Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Verse 17 Jesus consoles John to, “Fear not, I am the first and the last.”

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Verse 18 Jesus remarks, “I am he that liveth and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore. Amen: and have the keys of hell and of death.

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Revelation 22:13, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Even in the name of God, Jesus Christ claimed equality with the Jehovah God.

Exodus 3:13/14. “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I came unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, the God of your fathers hath sent me unto you, and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? (v.14) And God said unto Moses, I am that I am and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I am hath sent me unto you”. Later in Chapter 6 God revealed his name Jehovah to Moses. If Jesus claim himself to be Christ by saying ‘ before Abraham was I AM ‘ then he is equal with Jehovah. No wonder the high priest Caiaphas charged Jesus with blasphemy. According to the law of Moses a person who blaspheme shall be put to death.

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Practical Application

Having said much on the deity of Jesus Christ, let us now ponder a little as to how this truth could be applied in our life.

God is a trinity. The man too is a trinity. Trinity of God is a subject to be dealt with at a later date if you call for it. The man becomes a complete being with three components namely: 1) body, 2) soul, and 3) spirit. Apostle Paul writes:

I Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Body

The man when he dies physically, the body normally goes for burial and it gets decayed; the soul and spirit go to hades (sheol). That is an interim location reserved for departed soul. Generally speaking, on resurrection day which is called ‘last day” both soul and spirit receive a new body to stand before the white throne judgment of God. At that day, all the dead both small and great, will rise up, some to the resurrection of life and some unto the resurrection of damnation.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

In this connection, read also what Jesus said in John 5:29. This speaks of “the rest of the dead” group (Rev.20:5). The resurrection of the church victorious is different thing altogether.

On resurrection day, every soul/spirit receives a new resurrected body which is not at all decayable. It is very important to note here, that there is only one body which received not corruption. That is the sinless body of Jesus Christ. The empty tomb where in the body of Jesus was laid to rest, and the eye witnesses of the risen Christ in ‘flesh and bones’ to his disciples will prove that his body was incorruptible.

Peter on the day of Pentecost, having filled with the Holy Spirit declared, quoting Psalm 16:10, that the Holy One will not leave my soul in hell(sheol), neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption(Acts 2:27,31). But every other man’s body gets decayed or corrupted because he inherited a natural sinful body through the fallen man in the garden of Eden.

God told Adam: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The disobedience of man caused death. There are two kinds of death, one is physical and the other is spiritual. In Romans we read:

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.

In other words, in the sight of God, all humanity that are descended from Adam are sinners.

There are two types of sins. Firstly we are sinners by wicked works. The other is the one that we inherited through Adamic heritage. The latter is not the sin that we commit. For our committed sins we have to repent. Both sins are washed away if we respond to the altar call found in Acts.2:38.

Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  1. Soul

Genesis 2:7 Man became a living soul when the Lord God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. There are three factors involved therein:

    • Mind

    • Intellect

    • Will

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

You will recall that a rich man, as described in Luke 16:19-31. While he was in Hades tormenting he had his mind, intelligence all working well. Don’t forget that he was dead. He certainly had received a decent burial and at the time of his reasoning to patriarch Abraham his body got rotten in the grave! While on earth his spirit part of the human entity was dead. He did not allow his spirit to move along with the Holy Spirit of God. His soul was in control of his direction in life instead of the spirit. In other words, he was not a born again person.

I Corinthians 2:11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

  1. Spirit

The spirit of man is the link between man and God. The spirit of man which is in him knows the things of man. In the beginning the spirit in him was alive and in the driver’s seat controlling the soul and body. By the way, the body, when alive, has the five senses working well under the direction of the spirit. But when man disobeyed God and fell the spirit of man met his death. Spiritually he became dead in trespasses and sins:

Ephesians: 2:1-2

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Even the physical death began to reign over the humanity. Now that the spirit of man is dead, the soul takes control of both spirit and body. Your intellect, your thoughts and your will are now governed by your soul. You are away from the presence of God. You became a natural man.

I Corinthians 2:14 A natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God.

I think it is appropriate here to note what Jesus spoke on the promise of the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

If the spirit of man is in a deadened stage he is cut of from God. To bring him back to God we need a sinless savior. No human being could redeem the fallen man back to his original estate except Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

II Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Are you willing to accept him as your personal savior?

John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.

Conclusion

Jesus said:

John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

John 1:11-12

11 He came unto his own, and his own(Jewish people)received him not.

12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons (children) of God, even to them that believe on his name.

By repenting our sins and accepting Jesus as our personal savior, the spirit of Christ comes into our heart. This is called a born again experience. Jesus said:

John 3:3 Verily, Verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

To enter into the Kingdom of God, One should be born of water and of the Spirit.

John 3:5 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus promised eternal life to all those who believe in him and gave assurance that he would raise them up in the last day:

John 6:39-54

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Salvation

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 11:25-26

25 Jesus said: I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead; yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

Apostle Peter writes on the new birth thus:

1Peter 1:23 Being born again not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth for ever.

In Luke 8:11 we learn that the seed is the word of God.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

The same Jesus appeared unto John and said:

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen: and have the keys of hell and of death:

He died for our sins. Prophet Isaiah laments on his sufferings years before it happened.

Isaiah 53:4-5

4 he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

This same Jesus who knew no sin, made him to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Pontius Pilate the Governor of the land found no fault in him. The centurion set to oversee the crucifixion and death of Jesus, witnessed the earth-quake and those things that were done, they feared greatly saying, and truly this was the Son of God.

The Bible says:

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Finally, it is my prayer that whoever happened to read this writing may:

  • Become born again

  • Water baptized

  • Baptized in the Holy Spirit

  • Get ready for the soon coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

May their bodies, souls and spirits be preserved blameless unto the coming of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
